How Did You First Come In Contact With The Navigators?
Courtney J. - I first came in contact with the Navigators through Don Prosser. He led my father to Christ in the 70's. I then got to know Gene Warr and some of his family. Gene used to come down and hunt with my Dad (K.A. "Buddy" Childs) I am greatfull for the example that both men were to my family.
Alex M. received Christ in 1972 through The Navigator Ministry, when I was in the my first year in my campus ( ITB ) in Bandung, Indonesia. I was discipled by Mr. Septo Siregar and James Truax. At that time, James North was the National Leader.
Sam Allgood - Sitting in my dorm room at Virginia Tech in Sep 1969 during the first few weeks there, a couple of Navs came by to invite people to a Bible study in the gospel of John in the dorm. What a lifechanger for this churchian!
Dusty H. - kinda first heard about Navigators through the reading of "The pursuit of holiness/ the practice of godliness". Then this past week, I was visiting with my friend's cousin. And we were talking about the Lord's working, bible studies and such, when she told me that I would make a good Navigator! Of course I was kinda lost by that comment cause I didn't have a clue what she meant, then she informed me in with the details of the ministry. I also talked with her dad "Bill Teten" some more about what the Navigators do, and what he does, and I learned so much just from that one meeting. And what really caught my attention was the collegiate ministry, cause I just got done leading a bible study group at the community college I was at. Now I am looking at EDGE Corps and more into the ministry of the Navs. The vision of this ministry really conected with the vision I had for the study at the community college. To see Christ lifted up, lives change and sanctified is what we wanted to see, and now to find a organization that has the same vision, but even more so causes my heart to rejoice in the Lord.
Kristi T. - was apart of the LDI program @ Glen Eyrie from Aug. 89-91. Loved the time I spent there living in Aspen Manor and meeting so many people from all over the world. It was an amazing experience.
Jerry J. - came in contact with the Navigators at Castle AFB at Atwater, Ca. in Oct 1970. I had been told by one of my dormmates, to never ever sit down at the chowhall with Larry Shearer, as he would hit you with all this religious stuff. I decided, that was exactly what I was going to do. I had no idea, that meal would begin a change the direction of my life. I still have the napkin that Larry used to present the Bridge I illustration. Then later at 10:30pm on November 18th, 1970 in the Base Chapel, after finishing the first Nav book. And with Larry present I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal saviour. Now it is almost 40 yrs later. I very much desire to find Larry and tell him how much I appreciate him. I praise the Lord for all those who were involved with the Ministry there. The Lord Has been so good all these years. Thank you, Jesus!
